Happy Meatless Monday! One benefit of eating whole food, plant-based is that you can save money.
—->Buy in bulk at warehouse stores the foods that last, like oats, brown rice, tetra-pak plant milks, canned beans, canned tomatoes, dates, vinegar, raw nuts, tea, and spices.
—->Visit your local farmer’s market for the freshest produce at the best prices.
—->Start at the bulk section at your market to buy cereals, whole grains, dry legumes, seeds, and dried fruits.
—->Stay away from the processed, packaged foods, as they pump up prices for packaging and convenience. Fewer ingredients equals healthier, too.
—->Focus on local and seasonal produce for the lowest prices.
—->Plan your meals and shop with a list. Skip impulse items and stick to your list.
—->Do not shop for food hungry! Then everything looks good and too many extras end up in your cart.
—->Cook in batches and store leftovers in the freezer so you can have variety with less food prep and costs.
